Tooling Around

Today Drew and I took a refreshing bike ride around Brisbane. It was so nice to finally get out and have some physical activity after all the rain we’ve gotten! Some parts of Queensland are submerged in water, and thousands of people have been evacuated. Apparently it’s the wettest summer in like 67 years! Great….

But back to the bike ride! The lady we’re subletting our apartment from let us use her cruiser- complete with basket and bell. Our roomie Kate let us borrow her City Cycle membership card. I rode the cruiser, and Drew rented a City Cycle bike, which is a really cool bike hire service that Brisbane offers. There are City Cycle racks all around the city with self-serve rental bikes. You just swipe your membership card, pull out a bike from the rack, and voila! Any ride under 30 minutes is free, so we basically just kept swapping bikes all along the way so we had a completely free ride. We rode along the river on the floating walkway, crossed some bridges, rode through the city a bit, and back. Lovely.
