In Adelaide

October 21, 2010

Last weekend we went to visit Cat in Adelaide, Drew and I’s friend from Miami U. She’s been living there since January and is studying to get her MBA. We had a fun weekend of sight-seeing and debauchery… it’s good to see old friends! Adelaide is a pretty cool city of about 1.2 million people, with lots of restaurants and shops. We went to the botanic gardens, which is right outside of the city center, and walked around and laid in the grass. It was a beautiful day and we saw 7 weddings in the garden. It was really nice to be in a city after being in Nuriootpa where there really isn’t much to do if you don’t have a job. We’ve been trying to stay busy when we’re not traveling- playing tennis, walking around the nearby towns of Angaston and Tanunda, sampling the local faire (mostly chicken schnitzels and meat pies…), and the occasional wine tasting. Regardless, it’s nice to have a vacation after working so hard last summer to save money! And right now the Barossa vines are blooming and the sunshine is more consistent. Summer is just around the corner!

This weekend Cat invited us to Wool Bay with some friends that have a house there. It’s on the east coast of the southern tip of the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. We’ll be crabbing and fishing for our dinners and enjoying some good company! Can’t wait.
